The premiere of Dancing with the Stars: Athletes made one thing very clear: Adam Rippon and Mirai Nagasuc are BFFs. The two Olympic figure skaters have known each other for a long time and their friendship was front and center for the night. Both of them talked about rooting for the other and the two even got to do a little comedic banter at the end of the episode while the show was waiting for the votes to be tallied.

DWTS: Athletes Premiere Recap: The First Dances>>>

Adam and Mirai were both stunning in their first dances and in their interviews, they both talked about how badly they want to win. But just as badly, they want to get to the finale together. Mirai even openly implored viewers to vote for both of them. They each added that they'd be happy if the other won, though Mirai would be happier if she won.

But will they make it to the Final 2 together? They both got a lot of screentime and have remarkable skills. Even before the first dances, they were obvious frontrunners. However, if they are so tightly connected as a duo, could it actually hurt their chances of finishing first and second?

In some ways, they're reminiscent of another skating duo on the show: Meryl Davis and Charlie White. They came into the show as a pair, but Charlie was sent home in fifth place before Meryl won the Mirror Ball. History could repeat itself, especially if the same group of viewers is splitting its votes between Adam and Mirai.

Do you think the BFFs will get what they want and become the Final 2, or will one or both get eliminated before that?
