With only seven episodes, the upcoming season of Game of Thrones may be the shortest season thus far but it will also feature the longest episode in the show's history.

The silver lining was caught by Watchers on the Wall, which discovered the length of all seven episodes posted on HBO's website, including the final two episodes.  According to HBO Now's listings, the penultimate episode of season seven will consist of 71 minutes while the season finale clocks in at a record-breaking 81 minutes. "The Winds of Winter," also known as the season six finale, was previously the record holder for longest Game of Thrones episode with 68 minutes.

The total runtime of the entire season will be seven hours and 22 minutes. On the other hand, episode 4 of season seven will only consist of 50 minutes.

Does the additional length of the last two episodes make up for the shortened season? How excited are you for season seven?

Game of Thrones premieres Sunday, July 16th at 9/8c on HBO.
