NCIS and Mark Harmon will be back for at least another year, and this shouldn't be a surprise for anyone. After all, it is CBS' #1 drama and the most-watched drama in the world. In addition to the show being renewed for its 16th season, the network announced that series star and executive producer Mark Harmon has signed a new deal.

"It's pretty simple -- viewers everywhere love NCIS," Kelly Kahl, President of CBS Entertainment, said in a statement. "This show speaks to viewers of all ages, in all parts of the country and around the world. NCIS' amazing characters and terrific storytelling result in some of TV's most passionate fans. Of course, none of this would be possible without an outstanding production team, and talented cast led by the incomparable and absolutely tireless Mark Harmon. We're thrilled he is returning as the centerpiece of the show, and we could not be more excited for NCIS' 16th season."

The CBS procedural drama is averaging 17.0 million viewers and is in the top five most-watched shows on television this season.

Harmon's new deal is good news for fans, as they're getting ready to say goodbye to one of the other original cast members. Pauley Perrette's final episode is airing May 8, and after her exit, the only cast member who will be remaining from the beginning other than Harmon is David McCallum.
