With Mona now in the inner circle revolving around the PLL
Endgame board game, "Liars Lament," will she be the first to uncover the identity of their tormentor, or will she be the first to be killed? She's arguably the smartest of the girls, including Spencer, and she's had experience to give her the skills and eye for clues to find A.D., seeing as she was A many years ago.
The First A
Mona was the first A; she stalked them, tormented them, helped get away with murder, and yet she's still around. She survived the game, which is more than some people do, and she's even grown close to Hanna again after everything she did to her. Mona beat her addiction of playing with people's lives and grew up, but she's still trapped in the Rosewood circle of Liars because of her past.
Is Pretty Little Liars Waiting Too Long to Solve All the Mysteries?>>>
Being A, Mona has an eye for clues that the other girls don't. She can see things they don't, and she's not dumb enough to believe anyone. She's suspicious of someone until the moment she finds out they were telling the truth, for sure with actual proof, and even then she's still skeptical. Mona has never trusted anyone, and that hasn't changed over seven years. Even her friendship with Hanna is odd because neither of them really trusts one another, they're just trying to go back to how they were before all of this mess.
One of the Liars
All Mona has ever wanted to do was be one of the liars, but she's continuously gotten the short end of the stick. She was there when they were saved from the Thornhill Lodge, when Cece tried to turn them into burnt french fries, and when they found Wilden's body. Mona helped Hanna come up with a cover story to bail her mom out of prison for Wilden's murder, and then Mona went and confessed herself to give the police enough reasonable doubt to let Ashley Marin go.
Pretty Little Liars: Should One of the Girls Die in the Series Finale?>>>
Not only that, but Mona was in the dollhouse, too. For a lot longer than the other girls. She suffered in there for months under the same torture Charlotte used on the other girls for three weeks. She has just as much at stake as the other girls too, if not more. She could still go to jail for some of what she did as A.
This is why Mona is going to be the one to figure out the truth. She's going to work as hard as she can to find out the truth so these girls finally trust her and let her into the group, which she tried to do in season 5, but this time, it's more likely to actually end in her death. In the Australian promo below for the final four Pretty Little Liars
episodes, you'll see Mona saying a line that showrunner I. Marlene King teased on Twitter long ago: "Are you here to kill me?"
16 Quotes That Prove Hanna Marin Is the Best on Pretty Little Liars>>>
Using her knowledge and experience, it seems Mona is going to be the one to uncover the truth of this entire game and save the girls. Will she get a chance though? It'd make sense if Mona died trying to save Hanna, or any of the other girls, and it seems like sacrificing herself is the only way she'll earn their redemption.
