After eight seasons on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, it's hard to imagine the Bravo series without Kandi Burruss. But did you know that she nearly hit rock bottom and almost walked away from the show? Not surprisingly, it's all because of Phaedra Parks and Porsha Williams.
"During season 9, I was feeling like I might want to leave because there was so much hate from fans online and I was having trouble because, how do you defend yourself from a lie?" Burruss told Us Weekly
. "How do you defend yourself from something that never happened?"
Burruss is referring to the shocking rumor that Burruss and husband Todd Tucker had planned on drugging Williams and their mutual friend Shamea Morton one night in order to take advantage of them sexually. During the Real Housewives of Atlanta season nine reunion show, however, it was revealed that Parks was the one who told Williams about the rumor in the first place. The attorney then apologized to both Burruss and Williams, admitting that she "shouldn't have repeated it."
Following Parks' confession, Burruss felt relived that the truth has finally come out. Her thoughts about leaving the show also died down.
"I've never had drama like that that lasted the whole season. It was very sh--ty," she said. "But now I'm extremely happy that people were able to see the truth. Sometimes I thought people would never know the truth and it would have been a stain on me forever."
Burruss has now moved on and is keeping her distance from Parks. In a previous interview
, she also revealed that she can no longer talk to the attorney and is even considering taking legal action for what she has done.
Are you glad Kandi didn't quit the show?
