After months of rumors and speculations, Lydia McLaughlin is officially returning to The Real Housewives of Orange County. The Daily Dish confirmed the casting of the 35-year-old, who reportedly started filming in February.

Lydia also shared the news of her return to the Bravo series on social media.

Since Lydia left The Real Housewives of Orange County after season eight, she has given birth to her third child and concentrated on her magazine. She has also released the book Beyond Orange County: A Housewives Guide to Faith and Happiness, in which she revealed "God was calling me to walk away from the show."

"When I was asked back to do season 9, I wanted to do it. Being on the show was everything the world tells us to desire and it was what I desired," she wrote. "But deep, deep down--so quiet I could almost silence it--I knew in my heart it was not God's plan for me to go back."

Lydia, who also has her own lifestyle blog, isn't the only former housewife returning this season on The Real Housewives of Orange County. As Bravo exec Andy Cohen previously hinted, "some old Housewives [are] returning and it's really good."

Prior to the announcement of Lydia's return, it was confirmed that cast member Kelly Dodd will be part of season 12.

What do you think of Lydia's return? Which former housewives do you want to see back on the show?
