The time has come! The Voice
announces its season 13 winner during a two-hour special. The final four -- Addison Agen, Chloe Kohanski, Red Marlow and Brooke Simpson -- have all waited for this moment and so have we!
Coaches Jennifer Hudson, Miley Cyrus, Adam Levine and the reigning "Sexiest Man Alive" (as it reads on the back of his jacket) Blake Shelton take to their chairs. It's a show full of great performances, and here is the first of many.
Bebe Rexha, Adam Cunningham and Keisha Renee ("Meant to Be")
I have always wondered how eliminated artists feel as they perform in the finale episode of these talent shows. Inside, they may be dealing in their own ways, but on the outside they sure look like seasoned performers. Standing next to industry veteran Bebe, Adam and Keisha will surely be seen again after this show.
Charlie Puth ("How Long")
And all the girls swoon, collectively. Charlie sings lead and plays keyboards as Adam L. stands next to him unexpectedly, playing guitar. Funny, too, because Adam looks to be in his own world. He must be envisioning Addison underneath an explosion of confetti after hearing her name called as the winner.
Addison Agen and Norah Jones ("Don't Know Why")
This is a really lovely blend of two unique voices. I have to hand it to Adam -- he has what I believe to be one of the top two contenders in this finale. A very enjoyable performance from the finalist and Grammy winner.
Noah Mac and Bastille ("World Gone Mad")
This is the pretty exciting thing about talent show finales. The music industry's heavy hitters from one genre to the next all pop up in one jumbo special, and you feel like you've won tickets to a festival, but you're sitting at home in your pajamas. This is one great mash-up of edgy voices. Former contestants seem to be doing a great job now that the pressure is off too.
Kelly Clarkson ("Medicine")
Season 14 coach Kelly Clarkson returns to premiere her latest single, and she sounds amazing. A great way to show Voice viewers just why she's the best candidate to help mold another batch of Voice franchise hopefuls.
Chris Blue ("Blue Blood Blues")
Alicia Keys joins host Carson Daly to help introduce her mentee/artist back to the Voice stage. She says there is a lot of exciting things to look forward to from Chris, and judging by this performance, I can easily believe her. The voice is there, the dance moves, the theatrics -- everything is a spectacle to watch. Jennifer is on her feet in excitement!
Brooke Simpson and Sia ("Titanium")
Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm excited about this collaboration. Sia stands in a box, with her famous wig covering her face. Thankfully, voting was the night before because it's hard to keep focus on Brooke when Sia creates a spectacle by drawing away from her face. Looks aside, they sound like pure perfection together. The women have taken over this special with full force!
Chris Weaver as Nedra Bell and Jessie J ("Bang Bang")
Former Team Miley artist Chris Weaver returns to the stage as his drag queen persona, Nedra Bell, accompanied by two of his friends. It looks like something from the Broadway production Chicago as the queens emerge from prison cells. It's amazing to see a performance of this style on a stage of this magnitude! Then Jessie J makes a sudden appearance and surprises the audience! Shoes have now been thrown onstage.
We've reached the halfway mark, folks. The winner of season 13 will be announced in approximately one hour. Who do you think will take the title? Also, has anyone else wondered where Red is? Each finalist has been seen within the first hour but him. Odd.
Chloe Kohanski and Billy Idol ("White Wedding")
How exciting must it be to perform with icon Billy Idol? This makes me wonder just how many Voice viewers know of Billy Idol. This show could be introducing today's youth to numerous industry veterans. The performance is a cool one. He's still got it!
Miley and Jennifer join Carson and the finalists on stage to hand them each keys to their very own Toyota Camry! Merry Christmas to them! Addison doesn't even have her driver's permit yet! How funny.
Demi Lovato ("Tell Me You Love Me")
A personal favorite, Demi hits the stage with her latest single and title track from her new album Tell Me You Love Me. I must say, her pinstriped pantsuit is reminiscent of Beetlejuice's ensemble. I digress. The Grammy nominee sounds fantastic, with the choir backing her up for the chorus. A powerful performance.
Davon Fleming and Jessie J ("Not My Ex")
Jessie J returns to the stage for a second performance. This time, she sits opposite former contestant Davon for a slower tempo tune. With the idea of collaborations that involve similar voices on my mind, I find it interesting that both Jessie and Davon tend to be inaudible in their lower registers. Not to say it doesn't sound good, but it jumps out as funny in an ironic sense.
Is it time to crown the winner yet? No? 30 minutes remaining? All right.
Red Marlow and Vince Gill ("When I Call Your Name")
Red and Vince slow the show down a few notches for a country ballad. Their voices complement one another nicely. I'm not fully convinced that Red is as much of a showstopper as the women, but his heart is most definitely left on the stage by the time the song is done.
Pharrell Williams has also returned to The Voice with his world renowned band. The performance is done completely under a black light, lending a really cool effect to the mood. It's as if The Voice has gone to the club. It's quite the track switch after Red and Vince just graced the stage, but that's the beauty of this show. You can see so many artists of various genres in one space.
Sia is back in her box, but this time it's an oversized gift box adorned in gift wrap and a bow. Her wig is even red and green -- Christmas colors. I never thought an artist such as Sia would drop a holiday album, honestly, but the song is different and catchy. There are more than enough cheesy holiday songs. It's about time an artist with a great voice adds to the list of Christmas songs that can hopefully stand the test of time.
The time has finally arrived! The four finalists are called back to the stage for the crowning of the season 13 winner. Will it be Brooke Simpson of Team Miley, Addison Agen of Team Adam, Red Marlow or Chloe Kohanski, both of Team Blake?
Fourth place goes to ... Red Marlow.
In third place is ... Brooke Simpson.
Addison Agen or Chloe Kohanski? Who takes the top spot?
Our runner-up is ... Addison Agen, which only means one thing.
The Season 13 Winner of The Voice is Chloe Kohanski!
I don't find it surprising. Both Addison and Chloe were frontrunners early on in the competition. With few exceptions, thanks to unexpected eliminations, my predictions were right in this aspect.
Did your predictions hold up? Is there someone else you would rather see holding that trophy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
